Salvador was founded in 1549 as first capital of colonial Brazil, and remained as such until 1763. During that time the slavery trade was at its peak, bringing thousands of Africans
to Bahia to work in the sugar plantations

This was the birth of a powerful ethnic and cultural bond that intertwined peoples and traditions from America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, and that would later form the identity of modern Brazilian society

Today the state of Bahia and the city of Salvador capture the magical soul of brazil through its cultural and religious life

From the spiritual Candomble rituals to the rhythmic capoeira dances and the carnivalesque axé music, Baianos express a profound connection with their roots, history, and traditions every day

The land of writer Jorge Amado, it is also known for its voluptuous and joyful carnival, traditional festivities, and relaxing palm beaches ideal for sunbathing and practicing
all kind of beach sports

Once in Bahia you can easily travel to Salvador, Arembepe, Praia do Forte, Imbassai, Boipeba, Cachoeira, Itaparica, Trancoso, Lençõis, Mucugé, Jacobina or Abrolhos,
among other places

The tropical weather in Bahia permits going to the beach all year round: the average temperature is between 63 and 84 degrees, and the hottest months are December
through March (Brazilian summer)

It can rain occasionally during the summer and "winter" seasons
